The BBC’s Test Match Special team, led by the tech-savvy Jonathan Agnew, were forced to fall back on Skypeing their live commentary of England’s cricket match against Pakistan from Dubai on Thursday morning via an iPad after facing being forced off the air by a local radio communications breakdown. The production team turned to cricket correspondent Agnew’s iPad to keep the programme on air.

Renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz tells her friends to buy an iPhone when they ask her what kind of camera to buy writes Ben Camm-Jones for MacWorld. Speaking to US broadcaster NBC this week, Leibovitz said that the iPhone was the “snapshot camera of today” and produced her own iPhone to take some snaps in the studio. “I’m still learning how to use mine. It’s great. It’s a pencil, it’s a pen, it’s a notebook. I can’t tell you how many times I see people show me their children. It’s the wallet with the family pictures in it. It is so accessible and easy,” Leibovitz said.

“Teachers at Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, a primary school in Fishguard are convinced their pupils are benefiting from their iPads and iPods,” writes Steven Morris of The Guardian. The school has invested in 16 iPads and 20 iPods to improve literacy skills among their 247 pupils. Irwyn Wilcox, the headteacher said, “We were looking to beef up technology and find ways of engaging the pupils in different ways. I’m convinced it’s having an impact.” Pupils use the iPads in the classrooms and post their work to a secure virtual area run by Pembrokeshire, the local education authority. Rachel Morgan, Glannau Gwaun’s ICT co-ordinator, said children were “learning without realising they were learning.”
